Flights to and from the UAE continued to face delays and cancellations on Sunday, with several services from Indian cities affected by disruptions of more than 12 hours.
Despite the interruptions, most airlines continued to operate close to full capacity, while carriers also prepared to add new destinations in the coming months. Airlines advised passengers to check flight schedules regularly through their respective websites before travelling.
At Dubai International Airport, several services from India experienced significant delays. Air India Express flight IX 192 from Amritsar was delayed by 11 hours and 55 minutes, according to the Dubai Airports flight status tracker. Another Air India Express service, IX 432 from Kochi, was delayed by two hours and 35 minutes.
Air India flight AI 4210 from New Delhi was delayed by one hour and 30 minutes, while SpiceJet flight SG 5158 from Jaipur faced a delay of almost 12 hours. The Jaipur service was originally scheduled to depart at 12:15am UAE time on Sunday but was moved to 10:30pm.
SpiceJet flight SG 5117 from Kochi experienced an even longer disruption. Its departure was pushed back by 13 hours and 55 minutes, from 3:40pm on September 13 to 1:45am on September 14.
Flydubai also cancelled flight FZ 1111 to Tel Aviv on Sunday. Other services on the route, including FZ 1081 and FZ 1125, remained scheduled to operate.
Abu Dhabi-bound flights were also affected, although delays were generally shorter.
Etihad Airways reported delays on several international services. Flight EY654 from Kuwait was delayed by 26 minutes, while EY178 from Copenhagen was delayed by 24 minutes. EY102 from Madrid faced a 37-minute delay and EY144 from Zurich was delayed by 27 minutes.
Etihad flight EY014 from Atlanta was delayed by one hour and 31 minutes, while EY108 from Malaga faced a 29-minute delay. Flights EY078 from Manchester and EY758 from Casablanca were each delayed by 23 and 37 minutes respectively.
EY100 from Lisbon was delayed by 37 minutes, while EY160 from Warsaw faced a delay of one hour and 27 minutes.
Air Arabia also recorded delays on several flights arriving in Abu Dhabi. Flight 3LO44 from Kathmandu was delayed by 36 minutes, 3L442 from Yerevan by 22 minutes and 3L715 from Tbilisi by 27 minutes. Flight 3L764 from Tashkent was delayed by one hour and 21 minutes.
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK217 from Peshawar was delayed by 15 minutes.
Passengers have been advised to monitor their flight status before leaving for the airport, as schedules can change because of operational conditions.
