Ooredoo Launches AI Transformation Drive in Partnership With Microsoft

Ooredoo Qatar has announced a major digital and artificial intelligence transformation programme aimed at accelerating its transition into an AI-powered telecommunications company through a new partnership with Microsoft.

The initiative, called the Strategic Digital and AI Transformation Programme, is designed to strengthen Ooredoo’s digital infrastructure and expand the use of artificial intelligence across its operations, customer services and enterprise solutions.

The agreement between the two companies was signed by Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohammad Al-Thani, chief executive of Ooredoo Qatar, and Ahmad El Dandachi, general manager of Microsoft Qatar.

In a statement, Ooredoo said the programme represents a significant step in building a more agile and future-focused organisation. The project will centre on sovereign and hybrid cloud technologies, AI integration and the development of scalable digital systems capable of supporting future digital services and applications.

The company said the programme aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and is intended to help strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem while improving customer experiences and expanding advanced technology solutions for businesses.

Sheikh Ali said the initiative goes beyond a standard technology upgrade and represents a broader transformation of the company’s operating model. He said the programme is focused on delivering more personalised and proactive customer services while enabling enterprises to adopt advanced digital capabilities that improve competitiveness.

He added that the partnership with Microsoft would support the creation of innovative digital services and contribute to shaping the future of telecommunications in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

Microsoft Qatar’s Ahmad El Dandachi described the project as an example of how cloud computing, data systems and artificial intelligence can create new opportunities across industries. He said the collaboration aims to accelerate innovation while supporting the development of a resilient and dynamic digital economy in Qatar.

According to Ooredoo, the partnership combines the telecom company’s connectivity and infrastructure expertise with Microsoft’s capabilities in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data management.

The two companies will jointly develop a scalable cloud and AI foundation intended to support faster adoption of artificial intelligence across telecom operations, customer engagement systems and future digital platforms.

Industry analysts say telecommunications companies globally are increasingly investing in AI technologies as competition intensifies and customer expectations evolve. The move by Ooredoo reflects a broader shift across the sector towards automation, cloud-based infrastructure and AI-powered services designed to improve efficiency and generate new revenue opportunities.

The programme is expected to play a central role in Ooredoo’s long-term digital strategy both within Qatar and across the wider region.
