The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has announced a refreshed board of directors as it looks to strengthen governance and support its next phase of growth, reinforcing its role in Qatar’s long-term economic development.
The board will continue to be chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry. His continued leadership is expected to provide stability as the QFC advances its strategy to expand Qatar’s financial services sector and attract international investment.
Joining the board are several senior figures from across government, finance and investment. The new members include Sheikh Ahmed bin Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Thani, Deputy Governor of Qatar Central Bank; Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Qatar; Ali Rashid Al Mohannadi, Chief Operating Officer of QNB; Abdulla Mohammed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Stock Exchange; Ali Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Director of the Minister of Interior Office; Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Kuwari, Assistant to the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office for Government Affairs; and Mansoor Rashid Al Khater, Chief Executive Officer and board member of QFC.
The appointments bring together expertise from key sectors including banking, investment promotion, regulation and public policy. QFC officials said the expanded leadership team will play a central role in guiding the organisation as it works to deepen Qatar’s financial ecosystem and strengthen its international competitiveness.
A QFC spokesperson said the new board members would help advance the centre’s mission of supporting economic diversification, encouraging innovation and attracting global businesses to Qatar. Their combined experience is expected to help position the organisation to meet evolving market demands while aligning with the country’s broader development goals.
The board changes come as the QFC continues to expand its international profile. Earlier this year, the organisation unveiled a new brand identity and launched its “Grow with Confidence” campaign, aimed at promoting Qatar as a leading destination for financial services, wealth management and international business.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts to establish Qatar as a global financial and investment hub, building on recent reforms designed to improve the business environment and attract foreign capital.
With a strengthened board and a renewed strategic focus, the QFC is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting Qatar’s ambitions to diversify its economy beyond hydrocarbons and cement its position as a key financial centre in the region.
