The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its commitment to regional security and stability, stressing that it will continue coordinating closely with Gulf and international partners following what it described as serious threats and attacks targeting the country and the wider region.
In a statement issued on Friday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it called unprovoked Iranian attacks and threats directed at the UAE and neighbouring countries. According to the ministry, the attacks involved the launch of nearly 3,000 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones toward the UAE.
The ministry said the attacks resulted in civilian deaths and injuries as well as damage to civilian infrastructure, describing them as a violation of national sovereignty and a direct threat to regional stability.
The statement added that all measures taken by the UAE were defensive in nature and aimed at protecting civilians, national infrastructure and the country’s sovereignty. Officials said the actions were carried out within the framework of the UAE’s legitimate right to defend its national security and maintain stability.
The ministry stressed that the UAE reserved what it described as its full sovereign, legal, diplomatic and military rights in responding to any threat or hostile act against the country.
It also rejected what it referred to as attempts at coercion and the spread of misleading narratives, saying such efforts would not alter the UAE’s position or affect its ability to protect its national interests and independent decision-making.
The statement comes at a time of heightened tension across the Gulf region following months of military escalation and disruptions to shipping and energy infrastructure linked to the wider conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Officials said the UAE remains engaged in intensive coordination with fellow members of the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as regional and international partners in an effort to contain instability and strengthen collective security arrangements.
The ministry emphasised that cooperation among Gulf states remains central to maintaining stability and protecting economic and strategic interests across the region.
The UAE has repeatedly called for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation, while also increasing security measures around critical infrastructure and transport routes.
Regional analysts say the latest statement reflects growing concern among Gulf states over the potential economic and security consequences of prolonged instability, particularly following disruptions to shipping lanes and repeated attacks involving missiles and drones.
The UAE has continued to position itself as a key regional partner in efforts aimed at maintaining stability while balancing diplomatic engagement with strengthened security coordination among allies.
