Emirati Women Strengthen Role in UAE Financial Markets with 554,941 Investors

Emirati women are playing an increasingly important role in the UAE’s financial markets, with new figures showing that 554,941 women investors are currently active across the country’s markets.

The data was released to mark Emirati Women’s Day, observed annually on August 28 to recognise the achievements and contributions of Emirati women in areas including business, government and the economy.

According to the Capital Market Authority, Emirati women make up 70% of all women investors in the UAE. They also hold 93% of the total value of investments owned by women, highlighting their significant financial presence.

The authority said the figures demonstrate the growing participation of women in the UAE’s financial markets and their contribution to market activity and the country’s wider economic development.

The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group also reported strong participation among Emirati women. Nearly 125,000 active Emirati female investors currently participate in the market, making them a major investor group and supporting the UAE’s efforts to diversify its economy.

As of July 2026, Emirati women held shares worth around Dh39 billion on the Abu Dhabi exchange. That represented about 94% of the total value of shares held by women on the market.

The figures point to a strong level of participation by Emirati women in investment and ownership of financial assets. Their presence comes as the UAE continues to expand opportunities for citizens to participate in economic activity and build long-term financial wealth.

Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX Group, said Emirati women were contributing to the economy through resilience, ambition and innovation.

He highlighted the growing role of women both among investors using the exchange and within ADX itself. Women account for about 40% of the exchange group’s workforce, according to the company.

Alnuaimi said the exchange was developing infrastructure and access designed to support greater participation and ensure that women could continue to play a meaningful role in the financial sector.

He also stressed the importance of preparing the next generation of Emirati women to participate confidently in financial markets.

The latest figures come as the UAE places greater emphasis on financial inclusion, investment and the participation of women in economic life. Emirati Women’s Day provides an annual platform to highlight progress while drawing attention to the continuing role of women in the country’s development.

The strong investment figures suggest that Emirati women are not only participating in the financial system in large numbers but also hold a substantial share of the wealth invested by women in the UAE’s capital markets.
