Kuwait customs authorities have seized large quantities of food products concealed inside trucks heading to Egypt during a routine inspection, officials said.
The seized goods included packaged cooking oil, pasta and tomato paste. Customs inspectors discovered the products hidden inside the vehicles while carrying out checks at a customs port.
Authorities said the shipment violated customs regulations and that legal procedures had been initiated against those responsible. The individuals involved were referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation and action.
The seizure highlights continued efforts by Kuwait to strengthen inspections at its borders and prevent goods from being moved in violation of customs requirements.
The General Administration of Customs said it would maintain strict monitoring at customs ports and continue efforts to prevent smuggling. Officials also urged those involved in cross-border trade to comply with regulations governing the transportation and declaration of goods.

In a separate case in Dubai, customs officials recently stopped a traveller who had concealed 460 grams of gold inside the frame of a luggage bag. The gold had reportedly been melted before being hidden in the luggage.
The Dubai case demonstrates the range of concealment methods customs officers can encounter during inspections, while the Kuwait seizure involved commercial food products being transported in trucks.
Authorities in both countries have continued to emphasize the importance of customs controls in preventing illegal movement of goods and ensuring compliance with import and export regulations.
