IndiGo Website Faces Second Booking Disruption in a Week

India’s largest airline IndiGo faced another disruption to its online booking system on Friday, with its website preventing customers from booking flights and displaying a “no data available” message.

The incident was the second reported disruption affecting the airline’s digital services this week. The cause of Friday’s outage was not immediately known, and IndiGo had not responded to requests for comment.

Reuters journalists in at least three Indian cities were unable to complete flight bookings through the airline’s website. Some users also reported difficulties logging into the IndiGo mobile application.

IndiGo held around 67 percent of India’s domestic aviation market in July, making any disruption to its booking systems significant for a large number of travellers.

The airline had acknowledged technical problems earlier in the week. On Wednesday, IndiGo said on X that it was experiencing intermittent issues with its core reservation platform.

The company said the problems could make it difficult for some customers to access online services and that it was working with a technology partner to resolve them. It did not provide further details about the cause or expected duration of the disruption.

On Friday, multiple passengers posted complaints on IndiGo’s X account describing failed bookings, problems completing web check-ins and difficulties receiving payment confirmations.

The latest incident has raised fresh questions about the reliability of IndiGo’s digital infrastructure, particularly as the airline handles a large proportion of India’s domestic passenger traffic.

Online systems play a central role in airline operations, allowing travellers to purchase tickets, select seats, complete check-in procedures and receive payment confirmations without visiting airport counters.

Any prolonged disruption can therefore affect both passengers and the airline’s operations, particularly during busy travel periods.

The outage also comes after IndiGo faced severe operational problems last December, when poor planning of pilot rosters contributed to widespread flight cancellations.

Around 4,500 flights were cancelled during that episode, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded and causing major disruption across India’s aviation network.

The airline’s chief executive later resigned following the crisis.

IndiGo has since worked to restore confidence in its operations, but the latest digital failures could add to concerns about the resilience of the systems supporting the carrier’s rapidly growing network.

The airline has not indicated how many customers were affected by Friday’s problem or when full online booking services would be restored.

Travellers attempting to make reservations or manage existing journeys were advised to monitor IndiGo’s official channels for updates as the company worked to resolve the technical issue.
