Apple Set to Unveil iOS 27 at WWDC With New Siri, Satellite Features and Performance Focus

Apple is expected to introduce iOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, with a range of new features aimed at improving artificial intelligence, connectivity and overall system performance.

Among the most anticipated updates is a redesigned Siri experience. Reports suggest Apple will launch a standalone Siri app across iPhone, iPad and Mac, offering a more advanced interface that supports both voice and text interactions. The new version is expected to include conversation history, allowing users to continue previous chats in a manner similar to leading AI assistants.

The updated Siri may also feature a new “Extensions” system, enabling deeper integration across apps and services. When activated, Siri is expected to appear through the Dynamic Island with a “Search or Ask” prompt and an animated cursor. Apple is also likely to roll out previously delayed personalised Siri capabilities, allowing the assistant to answer questions based on information from apps such as Mail and Messages.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook recently reaffirmed that a more personalised Siri experience is scheduled to arrive later this year.

Another major addition could be support for 5G satellite internet. The feature is expected to be available on select premium models, including the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a possible iPhone Ultra. These devices are likely to use Apple’s next-generation C2 modem.

Satellite connectivity may expand beyond emergency communication. New capabilities reportedly under development include Apple Maps access via satellite, the ability to send photos through Messages without a cellular connection, and support for third-party App Store access. Apple is also said to be working on technology that would allow satellite connections without requiring users to manually point their devices toward the sky.

Apple Intelligence is also expected to play a central role in iOS 27. New AI-powered tools may include nutrition label scanning through Visual Intelligence, automatic contact creation from business cards, digital pass generation in the Wallet app and smart naming for Safari tab groups.

Photography and typing are also set for upgrades. Reports indicate Apple is preparing three new photo editing tools, along with an improved keyboard featuring more accurate autocorrect and enhanced predictive text.

In keeping with Apple’s previous “Snow Leopard” strategy, iOS 27 is expected to place significant emphasis on stability, bug fixes and performance improvements, alongside new features.

The new operating system is likely to support iPhone 12 models and later, ending compatibility for the iPhone 11 lineup and the second-generation iPhone SE.

Apple is expected to release the first developer beta immediately following the WWDC keynote, with a public beta to follow in July and a full public rollout anticipated in September.
