UAE Fuel Prices Rise for September as Regional Market Uncertainty Continues

The UAE has announced higher petrol and diesel prices for September 2026, with rates increasing across all fuel categories compared with August as global energy markets continue to face uncertainty.

The latest adjustment comes amid fragile regional conditions and continuing tensions that have affected oil markets in recent months. Fuel prices in the UAE are reviewed each month, meaning motorists can expect changes depending on movements in international crude prices and related market conditions.

August prices had already recorded a modest increase following a reduction in July. The July decline came after fuel costs had risen for four consecutive months as the regional conflict pushed global oil prices higher.

The latest September increase reflects continued volatility in international energy markets. Global crude prices have remained sensitive to developments in the Middle East, with concerns over supply disruptions and the stability of regional trade routes influencing market expectations.

The UAE’s fuel pricing system is based on average international oil prices. The monthly rates are approved by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure after taking into account the average global oil price during the relevant period, along with operating costs charged by fuel distribution companies.

The system means retail fuel prices can move up or down in response to changes in global markets rather than remaining fixed for long periods.

For UAE motorists, the September adjustment will raise the cost of filling vehicles compared with the previous month. The impact will vary depending on vehicle size, fuel type and the amount purchased.

The latest change also highlights how regional geopolitical developments continue to affect household and business costs across the Gulf. Fuel prices have experienced several changes this year as international crude markets responded to conflict, supply concerns and shifting expectations about future demand.

The UAE remains one of the major energy producers in the region, but domestic fuel prices are still closely linked to international market conditions.

With tensions continuing and global oil markets remaining unsettled, further changes in fuel prices cannot be ruled out in the coming months. The monthly pricing mechanism allows the UAE to adjust retail rates as international conditions change, giving consumers a clearer indication of how movements in the global energy market affect costs at local petrol stations.
