Dubai has announced a new initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence systems across its private sector, marking a major step in the emirate’s push toward a technology-driven economy. The programme focuses on introducing “Agentic AI,” a form of artificial intelligence capable of operating with minimal human input by making decisions, executing tasks, and managing processes independently.
The initiative was launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said the goal is to position Dubai as a global leader in the economic and commercial use of next-generation AI technologies. He described the move as a way to strengthen the city’s competitive edge and prepare businesses for the future.
Agentic AI systems are designed to analyse situations, determine the most effective course of action, and continuously improve performance over time. Officials believe such systems can help companies boost productivity, cut operational costs, and expand more efficiently.
The plan will be implemented over two years and includes specialised training programmes for business councils operating under Dubai Chamber of Commerce. These programmes aim to help companies integrate AI into daily operations and equip employees with the skills needed for emerging digital business models.
As part of the initiative, authorities have also directed the establishment of incubators dedicated to Agentic AI companies. These incubators are expected to support innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for young professionals entering the technology sector. Dedicated funding mechanisms will also be introduced to support businesses adopting AI-driven solutions.
The effort builds on a broader national strategy led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who recently announced that half of government services in the UAE are expected to be powered by AI systems within the next two years. The rollout will take place in phases across ministries and federal entities, with ongoing evaluation to measure performance and impact.
Dubai’s latest push aligns with wider initiatives such as the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, and the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. These efforts aim to strengthen the emirate’s position as a leading digital economy and highlight the growing importance of data as a key economic resource.
Business leaders have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a turning point for the private sector. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said the transition to Agentic AI presents an opportunity for companies to invest in talent and develop future-ready operations. Omar Abdulla Al Futtaim noted that the initiative could reshape how companies operate by encouraging innovation and modernising business models.
The programme signals Dubai’s continued focus on adopting emerging technologies and building a knowledge-based economy that can compete on a global scale.
