Sharjah Airport recorded a significant surge in operational performance during the third quarter of 2025, reaffirming its position as one of the UAE’s key aviation hubs. The airport welcomed 5,127,120 passengers between July and September, marking a 16.7 per cent increase compared to 4.39 million passengers during the same period last year.
The steady rise in passenger traffic highlights the airport’s growing appeal as a preferred gateway for both domestic and international travelers. Alongside the passenger growth, aircraft movements also saw a notable rise. The total number of scheduled and non-scheduled flights reached 30,737 during the quarter, reflecting a 10.7 per cent jump from 27,758 flights recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
Cargo operations also continued their upward trajectory. Sharjah Airport handled 48,073 tonnes of cargo, representing a 3.9 per cent increase compared to 46,284 tonnes last year. Particularly noteworthy was the surge in sea-air freight, which climbed by an impressive 32.8 per cent—from 3,236 tonnes to 4,296 tonnes—underscoring Sharjah’s growing importance as a multimodal logistics hub in the region.
Commenting on the results, Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), said the figures demonstrate the airport’s consistent operational growth and its vital contribution to strengthening the emirate’s aviation sector. “These results reflect the airport’s continued growth and its vital role in supporting the aviation sector in line with Sharjah’s long-term development plans,” Al Midfa said.
He attributed the strong performance to ongoing investments in infrastructure, capacity enhancement, and digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and passenger experience. “The outcomes are a result of our sustained commitment to modernizing operations, expanding facilities, and ensuring a seamless travel experience for all passengers,” he added.
Sharjah Airport continues to advance its strategic plans to enhance connectivity and operational capacity. The authority is focused on expanding destination networks, developing cargo and logistics capabilities, and integrating innovative digital solutions to further streamline operations.
