Several flights in the UAE continued to face delays and cancellations on Sunday after regional tensions in neighbouring Saudi Arabia caused temporary disruption to air services a day earlier.
Despite the disruption, UAE airlines were gradually restoring schedules to Saudi Arabia and other destinations across the region. However, some services remained affected, with delays ranging from less than an hour to several hours.
Airlines continued to advise passengers to check flight information through their official websites before travelling, as schedules remained subject to change.
Some flights experienced delays of around two to three hours, while services to Kochi in India and Sochi in Russia faced much longer disruptions.
Dubai Airports reported several changes to flights operating to and from Dubai International Airport.
Flydubai flight FZ 024 to Bahrain was cancelled on Sunday, while flight FZ 029 to Bahrain was also cancelled for Monday. Kenya Airways flight KQ 310 from Nairobi was cancelled.
A number of Flydubai services were delayed. Flight FZ 1736 to Almaty was more than an hour late, while FZ 966 from Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport was delayed by 41 minutes. Flight FZ 992 from St Petersburg was delayed by one hour and 24 minutes, while FZ 1716 from Minsk was delayed by two hours and 13 minutes.
Flydubai flight FZ 1026 from Colombo was delayed by 32 minutes.
Several Emirates flights were also affected. Flight EK 531 from Kochi was delayed by 31 minutes, while EK 565 from Bangalore was 43 minutes late. Flight EK 375 from Bangkok faced a 50-minute delay, and a service from Mumbai was delayed by 41 minutes.
The longest disruption at Dubai International involved SpiceJet flight SG 5118 from Kochi. The flight, originally scheduled to arrive at Terminal 1 at 3:15am UAE time, was delayed by almost 11 hours and was expected to arrive at 2:12pm.
Kam Air flight RQ 901 from Kabul was delayed by one hour and 49 minutes, while Air India flight AI 4210 to New Delhi was 40 minutes late.
Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport also reported several disruptions.
Etihad Airways flight EY770 from Nairobi was delayed by one hour and nine minutes, while EY014 from Atlanta was delayed by 37 minutes. Etihad flight EY858 from Sochi faced an 18-hour and 45-minute delay.
Air Arabia flight 3L715 from Tbilisi was delayed by 41 minutes, while flight 3L764 from Tashkent was delayed by one hour and 17 minutes. Air India Express flight IX179 from Delhi was delayed by three hours and 17 minutes.
Air Arabia flight G9070 to Gassim was cancelled on Sunday and Monday. Another Air Arabia service, G9543 from Karachi, was delayed by one hour and 30 minutes.
Passengers have been advised to monitor their airline’s latest flight information before heading to the airport.
