Regional Powers Hold Fresh Talks in Antalya Amid Escalating Middle East Crisis

Foreign ministers from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt met on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum to discuss the worsening situation in the Middle East, with a focus on the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The meeting, described as the third in a series of consultations, brought together Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

According to officials, the talks centred on coordinating regional responses to mounting geopolitical tensions and exploring diplomatic pathways to ease the crisis. The ministers also reviewed previous engagements and assessed progress made in earlier discussions.

The latest meeting builds on a series of diplomatic efforts launched in recent weeks. On March 18, Fidan attended a broader gathering in Riyadh alongside foreign ministers from across the Middle East and neighbouring regions, where recent developments were examined. That session included representatives from countries such as Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Subsequently, the four ministers held a quadrilateral meeting on March 29 in Islamabad, where they focused on aligning positions and strengthening cooperation. The dialogue was later extended at the deputy minister level during a follow-up meeting held in Pakistan on April 14.

Diplomatic sources said the Antalya discussions were part of a continuing effort to maintain communication channels and prevent further escalation in a region already under strain. The conflict has raised concerns over broader instability, economic disruption and risks to global energy supplies.

While no joint statement was immediately released following the meeting, officials indicated that the countries involved are committed to sustaining dialogue and pursuing coordinated diplomatic initiatives. The talks also reflected a growing role for regional powers in shaping responses to the crisis, at a time when international efforts to reach a resolution remain uncertain.

The Antalya forum has increasingly become a platform for high-level discussions on global and regional issues, bringing together policymakers and diplomats seeking to address complex geopolitical challenges.
