UAE Welcomes India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Praises Diplomatic Breakthrough

The United Arab Emirates on Saturday welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, calling it a positive step toward enhancing security and stability in South Asia.

The statement was delivered by Afra Al Hameli, Director of Strategic Communications at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), who posted on X (formerly Twitter) expressing the country’s support for the agreement.

The Ministry expresses hope that this ceasefire will contribute to greater regional stability and security,” Al Hameli wrote. She added that the UAE commends the leadership of both India and Pakistan for reaching the accord and acknowledged the key role played by U.S. President Donald Trump in facilitating the breakthrough.

While details of the ceasefire have not been fully disclosed, the agreement is being hailed as a diplomatic milestone after years of strained relations and sporadic cross-border violence between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

The UAE, which maintains strong bilateral ties with both countries, emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and diplomacy in managing regional tensions. “The Ministry reaffirms the UAE’s belief in diplomacy and dialogue as essential tools in building trust and resolving conflicts,” the statement noted.

The Ministry also voiced optimism that the ceasefire could serve as a foundation for longer-term peace and cooperation. “This is not just a moment of pause—it is a potential turning point,” the statement added. “We are hopeful that this development will pave the way for sustained stability, development, and prosperity for the people of India and Pakistan.”

The UAE has previously played a behind-the-scenes role in facilitating dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad, including efforts to reduce tensions in 2021 following border clashes in Kashmir.

With global attention on South Asia’s security dynamics, the ceasefire has been widely welcomed by international observers as a much-needed gesture of de-escalation. However, analysts caution that maintaining the ceasefire will require continued political will and engagement from both sides.

The UAE’s endorsement adds to growing international support for the agreement and reinforces its longstanding position as a mediator in regional affairs.

The UAE stands ready to support efforts that contribute to peace and stability,” the Ministry concluded.
