UAE Condemns Deadly Clashes in Syria, Reaffirms Support for Stability

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned recent attacks by armed groups on Syrian security forces, as clashes in the country’s southwest left more than 70 people dead and dozens injured.

According to a war monitor, violence erupted in the town of Beit Ana when residents prevented security forces from arresting an individual accused of arms trading. The confrontation escalated as security forces launched a crackdown in the area, triggering fierce clashes with militants loyal to former Syrian leader Bashar Al Assad.

In response to the escalating violence, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed its unwavering support for Syria’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. In an official statement, the ministry expressed solidarity with the Syrian people, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to their aspirations for security, peace, and dignity.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) also reiterated its support for Syria’s efforts to maintain security and stability. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, underscored the regional bloc’s stance against violence and terrorism, referencing the final statement from the Ministerial Council’s 163rd session, which condemned all actions that threaten Syria’s security.

Albudaiwi further expressed his hope for a future of stability and prosperity for Syria, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law and justice in ensuring the well-being of the Syrian people.

The latest violence in Syria highlights the ongoing security challenges facing the war-torn country, as regional powers continue to stress the need for diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability.
