Saudi Ministry Suspends Umrah Company and Overseas Agent Over Service Failures

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended an Umrah company and its overseas agent after failing to provide accommodation services to pilgrims in accordance with approved contractual programs. The ministry described the company’s actions as a clear violation of regulations governing services for Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency.

The ministry noted that several pilgrims arrived in the Kingdom without confirmed lodging, despite these arrangements being specified in the contractual programs. The situation prompted swift regulatory action under established legal frameworks to address the breach and protect the rights of affected pilgrims.

“The suspension is part of ongoing efforts to ensure Umrah companies and institutions fulfill their contracts professionally and in full,” the ministry said. “It also serves to prevent similar incidents and maintain high service standards for pilgrims visiting the Kingdom.”

Authorities emphasized that the measures aim to enhance the overall quality of services provided to pilgrims, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The national strategy seeks to improve the Umrah experience at every stage of the journey, from arrival to departure, and raise the level of satisfaction among visitors to the Kingdom.

The ministry warned that negligence or failure to meet contractual obligations would not be tolerated, highlighting that safeguarding pilgrims’ rights remains a top priority. It urged all Umrah service providers to strictly adhere to regulations and deliver services as outlined in their approved programs.

The suspension reflects a broader initiative to enforce accountability among Umrah companies and ensure that all service providers contribute to a safe, well-organized, and high-quality pilgrimage experience. Authorities stressed that compliance with contracts is critical to maintaining the integrity of services offered to pilgrims and upholding international standards expected in the Kingdom.

Officials called on all stakeholders in the Umrah sector to review and strengthen their operational practices, ensuring that every aspect of the pilgrim journey meets regulatory requirements. By doing so, the ministry aims to reinforce confidence in the Kingdom’s capacity to host visitors and enhance its reputation as a leading destination for religious tourism.

The ministry concluded by reaffirming its commitment to monitoring Umrah companies’ performance and taking immediate action when contractual obligations are not met. Pilgrims are encouraged to report any deficiencies in services to ensure timely intervention and continuous improvement of the Umrah experience.
