On Thursday, November 7, three Saudi nationals were sentenced to death for multiple terrorism-related offenses, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior. The convictions reflect Saudi Arabia’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts and highlight its zero-tolerance approach toward internal threats to national security.
The three individuals, identified as Saad bin Bashir Al Ruwaili, Saad bin Musnad Al Ruwaili, and Nayel bin Dhabil Al Ruwaili, were found guilty of a series of serious crimes, including allegiance to a foreign terrorist organization. The Ministry of Interior stated that the defendants had not only pledged loyalty to a terrorist entity based outside Saudi Arabia but had also carried out orders from the organization within the Kingdom.
In addition to pledging allegiance, the defendants were charged with creating a local terrorist network within Saudi Arabia, acquiring and possessing illegal weapons and explosive materials, and undergoing training in their manufacture and use. Authorities claim that the men planned to carry out attacks targeting security facilities and personnel using these materials.
Following their arrests, a thorough investigation led to charges against the three citizens. The case was brought before the Specialized Criminal Court, a judicial body handling terrorism and national security cases, where they were formally accused and convicted of the crimes. The court’s ruling confirmed their guilt, and the men were sentenced to death.
