North Korea has strongly denounced Israel’s recent airstrike on Iran, calling it a “hideous act of aggression” and warning it could ignite a broader conflict in the Middle East.
In a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Thursday, a spokesperson for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry expressed “serious concern” over what it described as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The recent Israeli military strike against the Islamic Republic of Iran is a clear act of aggression and an unpardonable crime against humanity,” the official said, accusing Israel of heightening the risk of an all-out regional war.
The statement also condemned the airstrike as part of what Pyongyang claims is a pattern of Israeli actions that undermine global peace and security. “The latest grave situation proves once again that the Israeli entity is a chief culprit of destroying global peace,” the spokesperson said.
While details of the airstrike have not been independently verified by North Korea, tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated sharply in recent days, following a series of tit-for-tat attacks that have raised fears of a wider war.
The condemnation comes as North Korea seeks to align itself more closely with nations it views as resisting Western influence, particularly the United States, which is a close ally and defense partner of Israel. Pyongyang has long been critical of Washington’s support for Israel and has repeatedly voiced solidarity with countries in opposition to U.S. foreign policy.
North Korea has historically maintained a hostile stance toward Israel, frequently denouncing Israeli military operations and voicing support for Iran and other adversaries of the West. In previous conflicts, including Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon, North Korea has issued similar statements blaming Israel and its Western backers for regional instability.
Iran has yet to formally respond to North Korea’s remarks, but Tehran has also condemned the Israeli strike as an illegal act of aggression and has vowed to retaliate.
