Google Expands NotebookLM Features with Video Overviews in 80 Languages

Google has expanded the capabilities of its learning and research tool, NotebookLM, by rolling out Video Overviews in more than 80 languages, alongside major upgrades to its Audio Overviews feature. The updates are being introduced globally and will be available to all users in the coming week.

NotebookLM, which is designed to help users better understand and organize their research, allows individuals to create notebooks from uploaded content and generate summaries that highlight key themes and insights. The platform’s Overviews feature has become a central tool for users who want to quickly grasp essential concepts without manually combing through extensive material.

The latest update marks a significant step in accessibility and inclusivity. With Video Overviews now available in over 80 languages, users around the world can receive concise and visually engaging summaries of their notebooks in their preferred language. The videos provide an easy-to-understand breakdown of complex material, making it easier for learners and professionals alike to absorb information.

Google emphasized that the feature is designed to support a wide range of needs. Students can use Video Overviews to review lectures in preparation for exams, researchers can quickly extract key findings from dense presentations, and hobbyists or professionals can turn to the tool for simplified explanations of complex tutorials.

In addition to expanding Video Overviews, Google announced enhancements to Audio Overviews. Previously, English-language Audio Overviews offered the most detailed breakdowns, but the new upgrade extends that richness to non-English versions as well. According to the company, all supported languages will now provide “a more thorough discussion” of notebook sources, aligning the experience across different linguistic backgrounds.

“These improvements mean that learners everywhere can access deeper, more comprehensive summaries in the language they are most comfortable with,” Google said in its announcement. The company added that the upgrades are intended to save users time by streamlining the learning process, helping them focus less on information overload and more on knowledge application and creativity.

The expansion comes just weeks after Google first launched Video Overviews within NotebookLM. The positive reception has encouraged the company to accelerate global access and broaden the tool’s reach. Analysts note that the update strengthens Google’s position in the education technology and productivity space, where demand continues to grow for tools that simplify the process of digesting complex information.

By breaking down barriers of language and accessibility, the new features aim to transform NotebookLM into a more powerful resource for students, researchers, and lifelong learners worldwide.
