Al Qasim, remembered for his years of volunteer service assisting pilgrims at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, was laid to rest in the city where he once devoted his time to guiding and helping visitors to the Kaaba. His funeral took place immediately after the Friday prayers at Masjid Al Haram, attended by family, friends, and members of the community who came to pay their respects.
The Saudi Arabian embassy in the UK confirmed it had facilitated the repatriation of his body to the Kingdom and was working closely with British authorities to investigate the circumstances of his death. “The embassy and all its staff extend their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, asking God Almighty to have mercy on him,” the mission said in a statement earlier this week.
According to Cambridgeshire Police, officers responded to reports of violence in the Mill Park area of Cambridge shortly before midnight last Friday. Upon arrival, they found Al Qasim with serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he died at the scene. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
