Palestinian Foreign Ministry Condemns Israeli Land Seizures, Calls for International Action

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong warning on Friday against Israeli plans to seize more land in the occupied West Bank, calling on the international community to take concrete action to halt ongoing violations.

In a statement, the ministry condemned Israel’s recent land confiscations in the town of Tammun, south of Tubas, under the pretext of military use, as well as additional seizures in the Nablus Governorate. It also denounced the escalating attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian citizens and their properties.

Concerns Over Settlement Expansion

The statement accused Israel’s right-wing government of accelerating land confiscations, expanding illegal settlements, and intensifying what it described as ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem and Area C of the West Bank. These areas, it warned, are being turned into a strategic expansion zone for Israeli settlements, in direct violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334.

According to the ministry, Israel’s actions aim to alter the historical, political, legal, and demographic landscape of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The statement warned that such measures threaten the possibility of a Palestinian state and undermine the viability of a two-state solution.

Call for International Intervention

The ministry accused Israel of deliberately escalating tensions in the West Bank and creating conditions that could lead to the forced displacement of Palestinian residents. It urged the international community to move beyond rhetoric and impose concrete measures, including sanctions, to curb Israeli land grabs and settler violence.

“If the international community is serious about preserving the two-state solution, it must act decisively to stop Israeli violations,” the statement read.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry reiterated its call for global powers and institutions to hold Israel accountable, emphasizing that only firm action can prevent further settlement expansion and ensure stability in the region.

The Israeli government has not issued an immediate response to the Palestinian ministry’s statement. However, Israeli officials have previously defended land appropriations in the West Bank as matters of security and national interest.

The latest developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with increasing clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinian communities, further complicating efforts to achieve peace.
