Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMC) issued a clarification on Thursday regarding reports circulating on March 5 through news agencies and foreign media about an alleged attack on a fuel tank. The company said the coverage inaccurately described the incident and confirmed that the event actually occurred on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
According to the company, one of its fuel tanks at Duqm Commercial Port was targeted in the incident. In its statement, OOMC emphasised that its operations remain uninterrupted and urged the public and media to rely on official sources before sharing or circulating unverified reports.
The incident involved multiple drones targeting fuel tanks at the Duqm Commercial Port. Oman News Agency cited a security source, reporting that one of the drones struck a fuel tank. Authorities said the resulting damage was contained and no human casualties were recorded.
A statement issued by Oman through the news agency condemned the drone strike and confirmed that all necessary measures are being taken to address the incident. “The resulting damage has been contained without any human casualties recorded. Oman confirms its condemnation of the targeting and states that it is taking all necessary measures to address this incident,” the statement said.
Officials said the drone attack did not disrupt fuel supply operations at Duqm Port, and the company continues to maintain normal functionality across its facilities. Security and safety protocols were reportedly implemented immediately following the incident to ensure containment and prevent further risks.
Authorities reiterated that Oman strongly denounces the targeting of critical infrastructure. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals, along with security agencies, is reportedly monitoring the situation and assessing potential threats to ports and fuel facilities in coordination with national security bodies.
OOMC’s clarification highlights the importance of verifying reports through official channels, particularly during incidents that involve sensitive energy infrastructure. The company stressed that misinformation could create unnecessary public concern and affect perceptions of operational stability.
The Duqm Commercial Port, one of Oman’s key industrial and logistics hubs, plays a vital role in the country’s fuel supply chain. Officials emphasized that safeguarding the port and its facilities is a priority, and steps are being taken to enhance monitoring and protection against similar incidents in the future.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the attack and that all damages were managed effectively, ensuring the continuation of normal operations. Oman continues to call on media and the public to rely on verified statements issued by official sources when reporting such events.
