Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met in Baku on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors. The talks focused on boosting trade and investment, enhancing energy sector collaboration, addressing climate change, deepening defense cooperation, and promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Following the discussions, Azerbaijan and Pakistan signed multiple agreements aimed at fostering cooperation in trade, energy, tourism, education, and other fields. Among the key developments was a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO). The agreement outlines joint cooperation in the Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba White Oil Pipeline Project, which aims to improve oil transportation infrastructure and energy security in Pakistan.
The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening economic partnerships and leveraging each country’s strategic position to enhance regional connectivity. Both sides expressed optimism that the agreements would pave the way for long-term collaboration, contributing to mutual economic growth and stability.
