The UAE’s first regulated lottery, operated by The Game LLC, officially launched on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for the Gulf region’s gaming and entertainment sector. The UAE Lottery currently features two offerings: a “Lucky Day” draw with a Dh100-million jackpot and prizes ranging from Dh100 to Dh1 million, and four scratch card games offering cash rewards between Dh50,000 and Dh1 million.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, The Game LLC, established in 2023, emphasized its commitment to providing a “world-class lottery experience” tailored to align with the UAE’s strategic vision of economic diversification and its positioning as a global lifestyle and entertainment hub.
Innovation and Regional Expansion
Speaking to Khaleej Times, a company representative highlighted that the launch is just the beginning of a broader effort to innovate within the gaming sector. “We are actively exploring culturally relevant gaming concepts and technologies to set new benchmarks for the lottery industry,” the spokesperson said.
While the initial focus remains on ensuring the success of The UAE Lottery domestically, the company revealed aspirations for regional expansion. “Our efforts are centred on creating a regulated, responsible, and entertaining lottery experience within the UAE, with potential to extend this model across the region in the future,” they added.
Job Creation and Workforce Growth
The introduction of the UAE Lottery is expected to contribute to the country’s economic diversification goals by driving growth in the commercial gaming sector and creating new job opportunities.
Currently employing over 100 professionals from more than 20 nationalities, The Game LLC plans to expand its workforce as demand increases. Roles will range across gaming operations, regulatory compliance, technology development, and customer engagement, offering opportunities for a skilled and diverse workforce.
“Our multicultural team brings expertise in advanced technology, entertainment consultancy, and responsible gaming, all of which are vital for delivering innovative lottery experiences,” the representative said.
Transparency and Compliance
The lottery’s operations are regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), ensuring fairness and adherence to strict industry standards. The company confirmed that its technologies and algorithms are certified by independent testing bodies.
Transparency was a key focus during the four months of preparation following the GCGRA’s licensing approval in July. “Meticulous planning was essential to align all aspects of our operations with GCGRA’s stringent regulations, ensuring a safe and responsible gaming environment,” the company said.
