Qatar and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties, with senior officials from both nations meeting in Doha on Saturday to discuss new avenues of cooperation.
HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal al-Thani held talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, who is currently on an official visit to Qatar, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, and industry. Both ministers underscored the importance of deepening economic relations between the two countries, highlighting the opportunities available to boost private sector partnerships and expand cross-border projects.
Discussions also touched on Qatar’s economic strategies that have supported the growth of its private sector. Sheikh Faisal briefed the Azerbaijani delegation on the state’s comprehensive policies designed to foster an attractive business environment, including incentives, investor-friendly legislation, and emerging opportunities across various industries.
Officials emphasized that Qatar’s efforts to diversify its economy, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, have created significant potential for international partnerships. Energy, infrastructure, technology, and food security were highlighted as priority sectors where Qatari and Azerbaijani firms could work together.
For Azerbaijan, the talks presented an opportunity to build on its growing economic engagement in the Gulf region. Minister Jabbarov noted that his country is keen to strengthen cooperation with Qatar, particularly in areas such as renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, and industrial development.
Both sides agreed that stronger ties between their private sectors will play a vital role in advancing mutual economic goals. They also reviewed ways to facilitate investment flows and encourage business leaders from both countries to explore joint ventures and market expansion opportunities.
The meeting reflects Qatar’s wider strategy of bolstering international economic partnerships while offering global investors access to its rapidly developing market. With robust infrastructure, free zones, and a regulatory framework designed to support growth, officials said the country remains well-positioned to attract investment and deepen global ties.
The discussions between Sheikh Faisal and Jabbarov mark the latest step in the two nations’ growing economic relationship, which has been steadily expanding in recent years. Both sides expressed optimism that continued dialogue and cooperation will unlock greater opportunities for trade and investment, benefiting businesses and communities in both Qatar and Azerbaijan.
