Oman Air to Launch Direct Dubai-Salalah Flights for Khareef Season

Oman Air on Sunday announced it will begin direct flights between Dubai and Salalah starting July 3, 2026, coinciding with the Khareef (monsoon) season. The new service will operate three times a week throughout the year, aiming to strengthen air connectivity to the Dhofar Governorate and offer more travel options for residents of the UAE, Oman, and international tourists.

The airline said the route responds to rising demand for travel between Salalah and Dubai, reflecting Oman Air’s ongoing effort to develop its domestic network and enhance regional links across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Bookings for the Dubai-Salalah flights will open on February 16, 2026, ahead of the inaugural journey in July.

The Khareef season, which runs from June 21 to September 20, is a major tourist draw. During this period, Salalah transforms into a lush, green landscape with cooler temperatures, attracting visitors from the UAE and other Gulf nations. Many families travel to the city to enjoy its mountainous scenery and mild weather.

Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, said, “With the increasing demand for flights to and from Salalah, we strive to increase our seat capacity wherever possible, providing flexible travel options that actively contribute to the growth of tourism and economic activity in the governorate.”

Oman Air has already expanded its seat capacity to meet high demand. In January 2026, the airline offered 20 percent more seats to Salalah compared with the same period in the previous year. During the autumn season of 2025, capacity increased by 15 percent to accommodate visitors during peak tourist periods.

The carrier has also recently introduced its first direct charter flights between Moscow and Salalah, targeting the growing Russian tourist market. The initiative is expected to bring over 7,000 visitors to the region, providing a boost to local businesses and tourism operators.

Looking ahead, Oman Air plans to expand its flight schedule to offer greater flexibility for travelers throughout the year, including during the holy month of Ramadan. The airline’s ongoing efforts aim to meet demand while supporting the growth of Salalah’s tourism sector.

The addition of Dubai-Salalah flights highlights Oman Air’s focus on strengthening regional connectivity and enhancing access to one of Oman’s most popular tourist destinations.
