Fujairah International Airport Partners with IndiGo to Launch Direct Flights to Mumbai and Kannur

Fujairah International Airport has announced a strategic partnership with Indian budget airline IndiGo to introduce two new direct daily flights connecting Fujairah with Mumbai and Kannur, starting May 15.

The new routes mark a significant milestone for both the airport and the airline, catering to growing demand for travel between India and the UAE. Mumbai and Kannur, both key cities in India, have seen a surge in travel interest from tourists and residents in recent months, making this expansion particularly timely.

With the addition of Fujairah, IndiGo has now expanded its reach to 41 international destinations and five in the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah. The new flights are expected to boost connectivity between India and the northern emirates, offering travelers more flexibility and competitive pricing options.

Captain Ismail Mohammed Al Balooshi, General Manager of Fujairah International Airport, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership, stating, “This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing more travel options for passengers and enhancing connectivity with vital destinations in India.”

He added, “We hope this move will contribute to consolidating Fujairah’s position as a preferred gateway for travelers from the region and the world, in addition to its role in supporting local tourism.”

IndiGo officials echoed the sentiment. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, highlighted the appeal of Fujairah as an emerging travel destination. “We are delighted to announce the launch of daily direct flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah, the hidden gem of the UAE, known for its natural beauty and strategic location,” he said.

Fujairah, located on the UAE’s eastern coastline along the Gulf of Oman, is increasingly becoming a sought-after destination thanks to its scenic landscapes, historical landmarks, and tranquil beaches. Unlike its bustling counterparts in the UAE, Fujairah offers a quieter and more nature-focused travel experience.

The introduction of these direct flights is expected to further position Fujairah as a viable alternative for travelers seeking convenient access to India without transiting through larger airports in the UAE.

The move also aligns with broader efforts to enhance economic and tourism ties between India and the UAE, two nations with deep-rooted cultural, economic, and expatriate links.

Airport officials and travel industry stakeholders anticipate the new routes will stimulate tourism, business travel, and family visits, while also promoting Fujairah as a gateway to the rest of the emirates.

Bookings for the new routes are now open, with IndiGo promising competitive fares and seamless service.
