Electric Air Taxis to Take Flight at Dubai Airshow 2025

Visitors attending the Dubai Airshow 2025 will witness a historic first as electric air taxis lift off in live flying displays, showcasing what urban commuting could look like in the near future. The demonstrations of eVTOLs—electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft—mark a milestone for both the event and the aviation industry, signaling a shift toward sustainable and high-tech urban air mobility.

Organisers say the introduction of air taxis highlights the Airshow’s growing emphasis on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), a field focused on electric propulsion, autonomous flight systems, and new airspace management technologies designed to support short-distance, on-demand city flights. This year’s edition is expected to be the most extensive in the event’s history, featuring more than 200 aircraft in both flying and static displays, spanning commercial, private, and military sectors.

Tim Hawes, Managing Director at Informa Markets, said the inclusion of eVTOL demonstrations reflects the spirit of innovation driving the global aerospace industry. “It goes beyond showcasing aircraft; it’s about demonstrating what’s possible when vision, technology, and collaboration converge,” Hawes said.

The Dubai Airshow has long been a platform for unveiling cutting-edge aviation advancements, but this year’s focus on electric and autonomous flight technologies underscores a broader transformation in how the industry envisions the future of air travel. The city’s interest in air taxis aligns with Dubai’s broader smart mobility goals, which aim to integrate advanced transport solutions into everyday life.

Several high-profile aircraft will make their debut at this year’s show. Among the highlights are China’s COMAC C919 and C929 passenger jets, Embraer’s KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, and the Boeing 777-219ER. The diverse lineup showcases the global aviation sector’s progress in both sustainability and performance.

Dubai Airshow 2025 will be held from November 17 to 21 at Dubai World Central. The event will host more than 1,500 exhibitors, 490 official delegations, and 350 speakers from nearly 100 countries. Industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators are expected to discuss advancements in defense, commercial aviation, sustainability, and emerging technologies shaping the next generation of flight.

With the debut of electric air taxis, Dubai aims to position itself as a frontrunner in adopting next-generation aviation technologies. The live demonstrations are expected to be a major attraction, giving visitors a real-world preview of a transportation model that could soon redefine urban mobility around the world.
