Travelers flying out of Dubai International Airport (DXB) between February 20 and 28 should prepare for a surge in passenger traffic, with over 2.5 million travelers expected during this period.
DXB officials announced Thursday that the airport will see an average of 280,000 passengers daily, with the busiest day anticipated on Saturday, February 22, when more than 295,000 guests are expected to pass through the terminals.
“A mix of global events and school holidays across key markets will make this one of DXB’s busiest travel periods,” the airport stated in its advisory.
Travel Tips for Passengers
To help ease congestion, DXB has advised travelers to use Dubai Metro when commuting to and from the airport, as well as when moving between Terminals 1 and 3. Passengers arriving at Terminal 1 should note that the Arrivals bus stop will be out of service starting February 21, with alternative transport options and updated bus schedules available through the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website.
Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time, arrive at the airport early, and use online check-in services where possible to minimize wait times.
Why the Surge in Travelers?
The expected increase in passenger traffic is attributed to a combination of factors, including school holidays in key markets and several major international events drawing visitors to and from Dubai. February is traditionally a busy travel period for the city, known for its mild winter climate and world-class attractions.
Operational Readiness and Passenger Experience
Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest hubs, has assured passengers that it is fully prepared to handle the increase in travelers. Additional staff will be deployed to assist passengers, and measures have been implemented to streamline security checks and immigration processes.
“Ensuring a smooth and seamless journey for our guests is our top priority,” DXB said. “We are working closely with airlines, government authorities, and our service partners to maintain efficient operations during this peak period.”
Stay Updated
Passengers are advised to stay informed of any travel updates by checking the official DXB website, airline notifications, and social media channels. For transport-related information, travelers can visit the RTA website for real-time metro and bus schedules.
With careful planning and awareness of the expected crowds, travelers can help ensure a stress-free experience as they pass through Dubai International Airport during this busy travel season.
