Dicode and InfraX Partner to Launch Smart Gas Meter Solution Across UAE

Dicode, in collaboration with InfraX, the information communication and technology arm of Digital Dewa—Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s digital division—is set to introduce an advanced ‘end-to-end’ solution to modernize gas infrastructure across the UAE. This initiative aims to support Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s digital capital by upgrading analogue meters into smart systems.

InfraX, known for delivering high-performance network infrastructure solutions across the UAE, has entered into a strategic agreement with Dicode to deploy LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology throughout the region. This partnership will cater to various market segments with customized solutions, aiming to transform the UAE’s utilities sector, according to a statement from Digital Dewa.

Rashid Alahmedi, Chief Operating Officer of InfraX, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating that the partnership would pave the way for the development of an innovative smart gas Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure across the country.

Satish Chandran, Co-founder and CEO of Dicode, emphasized the benefits for gas distribution companies, explaining that the collaboration would offer these companies a cost-effective transition to smart infrastructure by reducing capital expenditure (capex) and technology acquisition costs. “Through this partnership, we aim to upgrade millions of meters across the UAE. We are thrilled to partner with InfraX and introduce our innovative Platform as a Service (PaaS) model in the UAE for the first time,” Chandran said.

The solution, launched under the PaaS model, will feature advanced Smart Gas Meters, communication solutions powered by InfraX, and a patented IoT software solution. This model is designed to facilitate gas companies and other utilities in efficiently migrating from traditional analogue meters to smart systems. By transitioning from a capex-based model to an operating expenditure (opex)-driven approach, the PaaS model will enable a smoother and more cost-effective transition to smart infrastructure.

With this initiative, Dicode and InfraX aim to enhance efficiency in utility management and contribute to Dubai’s ambitious digital transformation goals, positioning the UAE as a leader in smart city technology..
