HUAWEI Unveils White Edition of Mate XT, World’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone

HUAWEI has expanded its Mate XT line with a new White edition, bringing a fresh aesthetic to the world’s first commercially available tri-fold smartphone. Every era of technology has seen devices that redefine expectations, and the Mate XT continues that tradition, creating an entirely new category of foldable smartphones.

The White variant introduces a modern, minimalist elegance to the Mate XT family. While the original Black and Red models emphasized power and prestige, White is designed to convey purity, futurism, and contemporary style. The device aims to stand alone in both design and performance, reinforcing its position as a luxury technology icon.

Despite housing three displays, the Mate XT measures just 3.6mm when fully unfolded, making it the thinnest tri-fold smartphone on the market. The device features HUAWEI’s signature Star Diamond camera module, enhanced with the Sinusoidal Cutting technique for sharper, more sculptural contours. Each camera module incorporates Eonic Curves, crafted through 78 precision processes over 22 days, ensuring that every unit is unique. The rear finish is wrapped in ultra-thin 0.47mm premium leather made from aerospace-grade fiber, combining durability with lightweight design.

The Mate XT features a 10.2-inch HUAWEI X-True Display, the largest ever in a smartphone. The tri-fold design offers three distinct usage modes: a 6.4-inch single screen for daily tasks, a 7.9-inch dual screen for productivity, and a 10.2-inch triple screen for full tablet-like immersion. The display delivers 3K resolution, 1800 nits peak brightness, and a 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, providing a cinematic and fluid viewing experience in all modes.

The phone’s Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera system introduces a 10-size Adjustable Physical Aperture, controlled by a ring-shaped magnetic motor. It is paired with a 5.5x periscope telephoto lens, ultra-wide camera, and Ultra Speed Snapshot, enabling professional-grade photography across a range of lighting and motion conditions.

Engineering the tri-fold structure required HUAWEI to design the Advanced Precision Hinge System, the thinnest and most complex hinge used in any smartphone. Constructed entirely from 1900MPa ultra-high-strength steel, it reduces overall thickness by 23 per cent while maintaining balance, durability, and smooth operation.

Powering the Mate XT is a 5600mAh silicon-anode battery, only 1.9mm thick, the thinnest large-capacity battery in its class. The device supports 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging, ensuring performance across all three screens without compromise.

With the new White edition, HUAWEI positions the Mate XT as more than a smartphone. It combines the functionality of a phone and tablet with a luxury design that sets a benchmark for the foldable market, representing a new era of mobile innovation and style.
